I have been blessed (and possibly cursed?) to live a life surrounded by teachers. Their job is unimaginably crucial to the advancement of society, but damn, sometimes they just wont stop talking about it. Maybe that’s why Maestra felt so personal to me, because it echoed so many sentiments so many people close to me have said about so many tribulations teachers constantly have to go through. This collection is nurturing, is fierce, is funny, is everything. Just like a good, thoughtful teacher has to be.
